Oswego Canal, Lock number 3
In
the morning we got our mast unstepped, which was in itself
a bit of a weird experience, mounted VHF antenna on the back,
got our cruising permit from the customs, refueled and off
we went to explore the world of New York State canal systems.
Going
through the first lock went very smooth and we tied up to
visit local library to check our e-mail and upload this website.
After that we went for a "walk" to the Walmart.
When we got there after a half an hour hike up and down the
hills we realized that we didn't really had a good reason
to go there in the first place. Besides looking at local girls
there wasn't much else to do so we walked back complaining
on how we are not used to walking anymore.
We
got back to the boat and decided to clear one more lock, which
end up in a few hour trip up the river and going through several
locks. Yes, we are very spontaneous bunch. The river was beautiful
and I enjoyed different scenery immensely. We saw some old
parts of New York canals from 1820. Johannes made some delicious
chicken after we tied in for the night. I am almost used to
having a pound of salt with every meal by now. (M)
