NYC - Statue of Liberty Park
I got
up at 5am still a bit shaken up by the last day events. Our
biggest necessity was getting some fuel and water. We were
told yesterday that there is a marina across the river with
the fuel dock, but having no gas to motor around and not sure
of depth of the water over there I thought it would be best
if we get some from where we were, even if it means walking
a bit with the gas cans. And so we did. We pulled into the
massive pier near where we were mooring for the night and
advised by friendly attendant we took off with three gas cans
for a little walk.
Okay so
it was more than a little walk, but it paid off. We got the
fuel, got some food from nearby store and we even found a
little cart we were able to put our gas cans into to drag
them back to marina. The way to the gas station was for us
entirely through the park and we were stricken of how foreign
for us is a city life. People were walking their dogs and
we met lots of joggers and bikers along the way as well. In
this particular place on West Side of Manhattan people were
much nicer than you would NYC expected normally to be. Of
course we saw some weirdo's as well stirring up the stars
and talking aloud to the voices in their heads. Now it makes
me think its maybe us who are more crazy after all.
Off we
go again! Because last night wasn't much of a rest I decided
to make a short run today and if possible make a stop by the
Statue of Liberty Island. Now was nice, sun was shining and
immediately we were in better spirits. We found a nice anchorage
and by 3pm we had now lots of time to take it easy and get
some rest.
