Book - Castleton

Castleton-On-The-Hudson
We took
off from Waterford about 8:30 when fog lifted to get to the
Castleton-On-The-Hudson. To get there we went through Troy
- The Town of Uncle Sam, as it's advertised. We are not sure
yet why Troy is the Uncle Sam's favourite, but I am sure we'll
find out soon. But nevertheless. So we were heading up for
our last one lock on our jurney through the New York Canal
System. The lock master decided to make us wait for the barge
and the towboat which was fighting with the barge pushing
it right and left. Anywho, the barge was big and we were little
and lock masters are like gods so we were told, so we got
out of the way and waited. And waited. And waited some more.
After an hour we were finally in the lock. Soon after we're
motoring through Albany, New York and I tried desperately
remember the name of the girl I know from there. Girl if you
read this, let me know. I'll call on my way back in the spring!
About 2pm we reached Casetlton Boat Club where for $50 you
can use their manual, self-service crane which we used to
put up our little mast. Our mast is little in comparison with
some other boats we've met on the way. Ours is just 35 feet.
Even though I did this only once before setting this up was
a breze. Except there is a massive wake from the boat traffic
on Hudson. While working on our little ship we've seen some
mega ships passing by shaking the whole boat club since their
docks are floating freely with the wake. For the night we
set the hook at the other side of the river from where we
are sending you the warmest greetings.
