Thursday

Before sailing back we spent couple of days in Key Largo enjoying hospitality of our friends and re-provisioning the boat. We also paid our last visit to DQ this afternoon before we had to hurriedly run back and jump on the boat to catch a high tide that would allow us to motor through those shallow canals. We anchored nearby the Key Rodriguez to be in better position for our morning departure. Our friend Randy came up on his sailing dinghy to say goodbye and shortly after his departure we crawled into our beds for a last all-night sleep before we head out into the Ocean for a grueling 6 day ride on the currents of the Gulf Stream.

Friday

We left Key Largo with fantastic winds beautifully filling our sails. Tobi performed culinary miracles and we had delicious strawberry crepes for lunch and pork chops and scalloped potatoes for dinner. I am sad to be going back home. My bachelor dinners don't even compare to what Tobi can make on a camping stove, down below, on a thirty degree tilt while under sail. We were clipping nicely and made already 90 miles by the time night crept in. This is when we lost all the wind and end up drifting on the Gulf Stream. Half-napping in the cockpit I was enjoying watching city lights on distant shore and was keeping an eye on those tiny greens and reds from passing boats. Another June weekend in Florida begun and boaters were out buzzing around in the dark ...
