Book - Lake Ontario Crossing

Cobourg - Rochester
Having
had one day of our souls were leaping for the wild waters.
So we assumed boldly that it would be possible to cross the
lake. Soon, at 4.45 am we took off waking our neighbours with
the annoying sound of our engine.
Out
on the lake the wind died down. We motored almost half the
way using our new fixed fuel line (by the way Johannes had
organized gasoline in a crazy bike ride with a 25 liter canister
across the city). The way seemed endless, occasionally we
couldn't see any shore, just surrounded by water. a little
alefish decided to relax and sucked himself to the back of
the boat. Encouraged by this amazing wildlife we got our the
fishing rods and tried to hook some, but sadly, no result.
Finally
arriving in Rochester at 8pm we couldn't get to our destined
anchorage bay. We got stuck in the canal entrance, only 4
foot water under the kil, quite surprised by this unfortunate
shallowness we reckoned that we could anchor again in the
bay ahead of the harbour. But this night (thx to God he hears
our prayers) our two anchor system worked our fine, we had
good sleep; although Maciek got some panic attacks from time
to time and checked depth and position in fury. (J)
